Job Description Summary

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. The department seeks candidates committed to undergraduate teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts curricula and professional programs. Applicants who will contribute to the college’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will develop a strong research program involving undergraduate students that includes participation in summer research activities. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field and demonstrated experience educating diverse populations of students.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is located in Peckham Hall, a 74,000 square foot facility for integrated math and science that was recently ranked 20th for Best Science Lab Facilities by the Princeton Review. Peckham Hall features state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities in addition to various updated instrumentation available for both research and teaching usage.

The successful candidate is expected to teach Organic Chemistry and Fundamentals of Organic & Biochemistry. Teaching responsibilities may also include contributions to the first year chemistry program (General Chemistry), upper-level courses including electives in their area of expertise, and courses in the college core curriculum.
