Job Description Summary

The department of Occupational Therapy at Nazareth College is seeking applications for a combined Chairperson/Program Director and 12-month tenure track faculty position in its BS/MS Program in Occupational Therapy. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and teaching experience.

Nazareth College occupational therapy program is a 5 year BS/MS program. It received full accreditation in 2015 year. The campus’s on site clinic provides the students with extensive clinical experience prior to beginning their level II fieldwork. The occupational therapy program has earned an excellent reputation in the community for preparing students with skills in report writing, clinical reasoning, client and professional interaction and utilizing evidence based practice.

A newly renovated and state-of-the-art York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute (YWRI) opened in 2015. The Institute’s 66,000 square feet is equipped to house occupational therapy, physical therapy, art therapy, music therapy and communication sciences and disorders. The WRI provides opportunities for inter-professional collaboration in education, research, and clinical practice.

Position and Responsibilities

Tenure track faculty responsibilities include teaching, assuring that ACOTE standards are met, advising students, guiding student research projects, participating in the on-campus OT Clinic, and service to the College and community. Chairperson/Program Director responsibilities include curriculum and strategic planning, scheduling, evaluation, budgeting, selection and supervision of faculty and staff, maintenance of accreditation standards and department policies, and commitment to strategies for professional development.

Required Education

The preferred candidate will hold an earned academic doctorate degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The candidate will be licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State, currently be certified by NBCOT, and have a minimum of eight years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy, including clinical practice, administrative experience, and scholarship. In addition, at least three years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post baccalaureate level are required.
