Job Description Summary

The Communication Sciences & Disorders Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts curricula and professional programs. Applicants who will contribute to the college’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, optional clinic supervision, college and department service. Applicants with experience in voice, fluency, and craniofacial disorders are encouraged to apply. Other areas of expertise are also encourage to apply.

The Nazareth CSD Department comprises undergraduate and graduate programs, with graduate specialties in autism and deafness. The department has 220+ students (81 graduate students), 13 FT faculty, and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility. Interprofessional collaboration and education are hallmarks of Nazareth College; our on-campus clinics are located in the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, a facility that also houses physical therapy, occupational therapy, and creative arts therapy clinics in addition to our own Speech and Language Clinic, Neurogenic Communication and Cognition Clinic, and Audiology Clinic. Our many active on- and off-campus clinics, which annually deliver more than 20,000 hours of service in the community, provide opportunities for clinical supervision and clinically applied research endeavors. The college is located in Rochester, New York, a city noted for its rich arts and cultural community, good school districts, and its international businesses and industry.

Summer teaching optional.

Required Education

Doctorate preferred; ABD considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Areas of expertise most needed in the department include: voice, fluency, adult neurogenic, feeding and swallowing, and craniofacial disorders.

The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate coursework. Interest and ability to pursue scholarly agenda and mentorship of student research projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Must hold CCC-SLP and NYS Liscensure or be eligible.
